UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE COURSE IS EXTREMELY POPULAR AT UNIVERSITY OF VALENCIA

21/11/2014

The first Eastern Slavic language offered to study at University of Valencia has become Ukrainian language. It was initiated by Andriy Yakubiv, student and editor of Ukrainian media in Spain.

In the middle of October the first introduction course on Ukrainian language and culture has been started at University. It was a complete surprise for organizers that for the moment of class formation the demand significantly exceeded class quote (the class counts 15 students). The course is free for the elective unit students. All costs are covered by Language Policy Service. The class is twice a week and lasts one hour and a half and finishes nearly at Catholic Christmas. After winter vacations the University Language Policy Service will consider course prolongation for the next language level (A2) and probably will admit new students for A1 introduction level.

To promote Ukrainian language in Spain and Valencia the head of the 'Ukraine-World' organization and poet Ivan Drach addressed Mr.Morsillo, the rector of University of Valencia, 'Let me emphasize that this practice will make a strong contribution into international cultural dialogue between our countries. I hope the University of Valencia will be the platform for strong cultural and academic cooperation between Ukraine and Spain and Valencia'.
