Italian Milan and Ukrainian elegance combination

Italian designer Frida Giannini created new fashion collection for Gucci autumn-winter 2008-2009.

Frida Giannini is an Italian fashion designer and currently the Creative Director of the Italian fashion house Gucci.

The elements of traditions Ukrainian folk clothes, namely, geometrical elements typical for Ukrainian embroidery, can be seen in this collection.

The collection was of a great success at Milan Fashion Show.

'The designer decided to depart from traditional sexuality and vamp style and preferred to emphases on elegant and smart clothes', Vogue magazine comments.


French Paris with “Ukrainian flavor”

The world famous designer John Galliano presented his autumn-winter 2009-2010 collection marked with 'Ukrainian flavor'. The collection was created under Slavic motives influence. Most of the elements were taken from Ukrainian traditional embroidery. The elements of Russian, Bulgarian, Czech and Polish embroidery can be also found in the collection.


Ukrainian designers also use traditional motives more and more in their collections. Ukrainian designer Roksolana Bohutska from Lviv uses embroidery motives from Bukovina and Borshchivka as well as beading.

Roskolana’s clothes were worn by Katerina Yushchenko and Eurovision 2004 winner Ruslana.
