RIVNE OBLAST-BORN NOBLE PRIZE WINNER
Georges Charpak is a physicist and Nobel Prize Winner in Physics in 1992 for his invention and development of particle detectors, inventor of so called Charpak chambers.
Georges Charpak was also a member of French Academy of Sciences, doctor honoris causa of four Universities, in particular, University of Geneve, professor of Joliot-Curie and ESPCI ParisTech. He was also awarded European Organization for Nuclear Research prize.
The scientist was born in Dubrovytsia town, Rivne Oblast.
