Kyiv subway station is one of the most impressive in Europe
The British media Daily Telegraph referred Kyiv subway station "Golden Gate" to one of the most impressive in Europe.
The Kyiv station ranked 15th among 22 stations in European countries.
'Golden Gate' subway station was opened in Kyiv on December 31, 1989. Initially, the station was planned in white colors, but it was decided that it should reflect the culture of Kievan Rus. As a result the ceiling height was increased, columns were tiled with white marble and the ceiling itself was decorated with mosaic stripes of glazes.
