July 8, 2005 at Paris Fashion Week famous French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier presented his haute-couture collection Autumn-Winter 2006.

After visiting Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv and being fully impressed, the designer decided to show Ukraine, some its ethnic elements and ornaments, both in collection and show presentation as well. For example, the hall was divided into sectors, called as Ukrainian cities: Zhytomyr, Lviv, Kharkiv, Yalta and others. It was the first time when Ukraine, as a country, enter fashionable world of Paris.
Most models were dominated with Ukrainian embroidery style, suede vests made in a traditional Ukrainian "kyptaryk", dark leather coats and hats.

The success of 'Ukrainian collection' Gauthier was predicted before the show opened. The day before the show Anna Wintour, editor of the American Vogue magazine, saw the collection and admitted that it was the best haute-couture collection designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
