IHOR KOSTENKO FROM HEAVEN HUNDRED IS RECOGNIZED AS WIKIPEDIAN-2014

Ukrainian journalist Ihor Kostenko, one of Heaven Hundred, became Wikipedian-2014. The verdict was announced by the Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on August 10, 2014.

Thus Ihor Kostenko is the first Ukrainian to receive this award (before delegates from Kazakhstan, Nigeria, France were awarded).

The Wikipedian of The Year title was given by Wiki community to Ihor for his contribution into Wikipedia promoting in social networks and peaceful stand for his social position. This annual prize is awarded for the highest achievements of Wikipedia editors and authors.

Ihor Kostenko is a Ukrainian journalist, geography student and Euromaidan activist. He was an active contributor to the Ukrainian Wikipedia. For two and a half years, he wrote over 280 articles and made over 1,600 edits. He also worked on promotion of Ukrainian Wikipedia in social networks though Ukrainian Wikipedians Facebook page which he created and administrated. He initiated hosting a Wiki Flashmob – inviting a large group of Ukrainians to participate in a day of article-writing on Wikipedia. The idea was fulfilled just after Ihor’s death. Wiki flasmob took part on April 27, 2014 and was dedicated to Ihor’s memory.
