ECF PRINCESS MARGRIET AWARD GOES TO UKRAINE
For cultural activity and proper art development space the Visual Culture Research Center (Kyiv, Ukraine) has become one of two Princess Margriet Award laureates for 2015 given by European Cultural Foundation. The second winner is Athens Biennale. Each of the winners will get 25,000 euros.
The Visual Culture Research Center was founded in 2008 in Kyiv as a platform for collaboration between academics, artists and activists. Led by a dynamic and engaged group, the center succeeds in connecting diverse Ukrainian and international audiences to develop a more complex understanding of how art and critical cultural thinking can equip a man with the skills of open-mindedness and a powerful imagination – skills that are so vital to progressive democratic society.
ECF Princess Margriet Award was initiated in 2008 and named after former foundation president Princess of the Netherlands Margriet.
The award will be granted on March 31, 2015 in Brussels.
