CD PROTOTYPE DEVELOPED BY UKRAINIAN SCIENTIST
In the end of 1960's Viacheslav Petrov, the postgraduate of Kyiv Institute of Cybernetics, invented CD prototype. At that time the innovation had just scientific implication and had nothing to do with music industry. The first CD had 2500Mbit memory storage.
Viacheslav Petrov is also a pioneer of very innovative compact memory device with immersive record and optical cylinder ЄС5153 to use for PC.
Mr.Petrov is a head of Institute of Information Record Problems NAS of Ukraine founded in 1987.
In 2013 the scientists of Institute of Information Record Problems in cooperation with the Institute for Single Crystals of NAS of Ukraine developed sapphire optical disk able to store information for thousands of years. It is expected to record and store information on both 80mm diameter disks and 120mm diameter disks (standard CD).
