Canada starts celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation


June 11, Canada started celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation in Kyiv.

The holiday has already started at Francophone Day in Kostelna Street where visitors could try traditional Canadian cuisine, fish and seafood, drinks, enjoy a special ice cream with maple syrup, other typical specialties , and listen to Canadian performers such as folk-blues singer Kristine St-Pierre and band Royal Canoe.

June 20, the celebrations will continue at St.Sophia Square where a photo exhibition 'Refugees in Canada: history of hospitality and protection' will open.

June 25, at 10am street hockey holiday will start in Khreshchatyk Street (opposite the Kyiv City State Administration). At the first official game the teams of the Armed Forces of Canada and Ukraine will compete. In addition, the summer hockey will be also participated by teams of Canadian and Ukrainian National Police, representatives of the Ukrainian team 'Invictus Games' and teams from other embassies as well. Between the games everyone will be able to try to deliver the puck to the Canadian goalkeeper.

A special booth nearby will serve Canadian national cuisine. Along the central street of the city one will be also seet a real representative of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

June 25, TSUM (5th store) will host a fair of Canadian manufacturers where everyone will have an opportunity to purchase Candian recreation goods and goodies.
