AUTHENTIC ZAKARPATTIA EMBROIDERY TO BE REVIVED IN UZHHOROD

A studio of authentic Zakarpattia embroidery opened in Uzhhorod. The lessons are delivered twice a week.

The students will study cutting, master new embroidery techniques and make up a shirt.

Besides workshops the studio students will get a unique opportunity to work with the things used in everyday life, for instance, shirts worn by women in ancient times.

The studio teacher is Tetiana Kohutych, 'Nowadays it is a good culture to wear embroidered shirts to church, cultural events, theatres. Our students will be able to embroider their own special shirt, for example, the one that was worn by their ancestors'.

The movement to revive regional embroidery traditions was initiated by Zakarpattia Museum of Folk Architecture and Life counting 6000 pieces of clothes and embroidered clothes.
