2016 IS 'YEAR OF SASKATCHEWAN UKRAINIANS'

2016 is officially proclaimed as 'Year of Saskatchewan Ukrainians' in the Canadian province Saskatchewan.

The head of the province government Brad Wall emphasized that this way the provice will acknowledge the 125th anniversary of the arrival of Ukrainian immigrants to Canada and will hold some festive events, 'Ukrainian culture and traditions are deeply embedded in the Saskatchewan mosaic, as settlers from Ukraine helped to build our province'.

According to the most recent census, roughly 13% of Saskatchewan residents trace their ancestry to Ukraine.
