Candied fruits made in Podil district were Kyiv's sweet highlight in the 19th century
Two centuries passed and the recipe of legendary sweet souvenir 'Kyiv dried jam', also called as 'dried candies' or 'balabushky', that was the highlight of Kyiv in the 19th century, has been revealed. In addition the jam was in great demand far beyond the capital of Ukraine and the country itself.
The recipe of candied fruits and vegetables was restored from the book dated of 1861.
The jam is made from fruits, vegetables and berries a generous Ukrainian land is rich in such as beet, carrot, rhubarb, cherry and lemon shell.
'Kyiv dried jam' can be as a good souvenir as Kyiv cake.
